Colombia - Monday & The Hike

Eating at a road-side resturaunt!

Today we went on an adventure! We traveled through scenic routes of Colombia by bus! As we rode the bus, we saw beautiful mountains, fields with cows, chickens, and skies as blue as the ocean. Our Colombian leaders kept raving about a hike that we just had to go on! As we road the bus the weather changed from hot to cold every 5 minutes and even a hint of rain! It's so interesting to see how Colombia has so many climates. One of the locals told me that it is here that you can experience each type of weather! Since we have been here I can say that that indeed is true! As we took a break for breakfast we got to experience some authentic local food! Coffee or "tinto" is the custom around here but I broke the mold and ventured out for some tea! It was a good decision! Filled with flavo

Colombian Breakfast - Scrambled eggs, Bread and Lemongrass Tea!
After breakfast, since the guys are totally opposed to "selfies"  we snapped a shot of the fellas that are  along for the ride with us! (Minus the Steve's)
The Fellas!
After breakfast, and a few hours, we finally arrived to the long awaited hike that our leaders had been talking about! It was amazing! There were so many moments and feelings along the way! We had some who were afraid of heights and we had to cross over a very narrow passage way called "Angels Pass" on both sides of this pathway is a cliff. The photo below is us on the way to the scary walk way! The weather was hot enough that we all changed into shorts and t-shirts. On the bus ride we had  on jackets and hats and here we are experiencing another climate all in a matter of moments!

Hiking The Mountains of Colombia

Here is a panoramic shot of God's beautiful creation, and also the "Angels Pass"
As we walked across we were all praying that the Angels of the Lord would carry us on their wings. Once we got across and climbed down a few mountains the land opened up to waterfalls, rocks, and more scenic cliffs! The photos don't to justice to the things that we saw but we all marveled in the creation of the Lord! One member of the team kept exclaiming "how can anyone deny God after seeing things like this". I couldn't agree more! What a fun time we had today exploring the mountains of Colombia and the handiwork of our Creator.

Colombia - Saturday & Sunday

Good morning! We made it to Colombia safe and sound! We arrived last night to a great welcome crew! The girls were even greeted with flowers! Let the journey begin!

We are well rested and thrilled to go to church and fellowship with other believers here as well as hear Steve bring the word! Before we head to church we have to taste some Colombian cuisine!

Here we have rib soup with cilantro, a croissant, omelet style eggs and a cup of "tinto" coffee! We are off to a good start and plenty of fuel to start the day! Hasta pronto! See you soon!

Colombia Day Six: Wrapping Up & Resting

Today was the last day at Super Vacas. Since it is Holy Week, today and tomorrow are holidays and many families went out of town for the weekend. Even with that, we still had about 45 children show up! Since it was a smaller crowd, we kept them all together and the second half of the day they each traced their bodies and put the armor they created all week on it. They loved working on this and it gave us one more opportunity to love on these precious children. They’ve captured our hearts.

Many of the women who have been such a huge help this week

All hands on deck today!

After Super Vacas, we were all exhausted and spent the afternoon resting. We finished the day with dinner and games!

Pray the children who came to Super Vacas would have their hearts captured by Jesus and that they would follow Him. Praise God for all of the lives touched and impacted, for the ways he blessed each one of us this week, and for the great weather we’ve had! It’s typically rainy every day, but hasn’t been at all this week!
