Time is flying and our team is doing well.  We got to go to one of the cool marketplace shopping areas in Seoul yesterday with one of the teachers.  This morning will be the final main stage teaching, and tonight we begin the lock-in with the student leaders.  During the main stage sessions, we've moved from theology to practical, and now at the lock in, we will get practical with the student leaders.  Niki & Tammy will teach the "9 Qualifications of a Disciple-Maker" and "The 10 How To's of Disciple-Making" to the girl leaders, and Steve and Danny will do the same with the fellas.  Pray for us as we hope that every student leader leaves this week looking for someone to disciple them, and someone to invest in.

The team is doing great.  The school teachers and the school chaplain have been incredible hosts.  They've taken us around to see some sites, and we may be finally getting over some of the jet lag.  We'll get to eat lunch with one of the chaplain's discipleship groups today.  We continue to work our way through the Bible Classes teaching Bible Overview.  Several students stayed after chapel this morning to pray and reflect on the teaching.  We look forward to see what God will do in the lives of students the rest of our time here.  Here's a reminder of what we are trying to accomplish here:

1.  Teach at Main Sessions of Spiritual Emphasis Week (HS Students)

2.  Teach Bible Overview to HS Bible Classes

3.  Strategic Discipleship Training with Student Leaders at Weekend Lock-In

Be praying for the students and as the week progresses, and we move toward more practical disciple-making, we are praying that students decide to be discipled by a more mature believer, and begin to consider discipling as well.

Seoul, South Korea Part 1

It has been an interesting beginning to our teaching trip to Korea.

Saturday morning, we were at the airport bright an early for an all-day trip to Seoul.

Just before takeoff, our flight was canceled, and the next flight available to get us to Seoul was the next day.  So we lost a day in Korea, and we finally did get off on Sunday morning, and arrived in Seoul on Monday at 10:30pm.

Today (Tuesday in Seoul) our teaching began at 7:50am.  Steve and I are teaching the main stage sessions at Spiritual Emphasis Week at Yongsan International School of Seoul, and the four of us will be teaching some different sessions in the classrooms and at an end-of-the-week retreat as well.

Today got kicked off well, and Steve kicked off Spiritual Emphasis Week with "The Danger of Drifting" from the life of Solomon.  We are teaching Mitch Mayer's Clarifying the Bible in some Bible courses as well, so we have already taught the first half of Bible Overview in 2 HS Bible Classes.

Everyone is doing well, and this afternoon we're spending time with one of the missionary families here, and they are showing us around in Seoul.   Jet-lagged, but pumped to be here.

God’s People of Ghana

Today was the last day of the conference. It has been an amazing week for not only the participants of the conference but also those of us on the trip. Between the two conferences and the two nights we sent out men to talk to local churches we have taught on the Great Commission to at least 250 people.

I know for some of us we have seen that when we are obedient to the last command of Jesus he reveals himself to us.

Please continue to pray for us as we are traveling home. 

Ghana 2012

God is here!

Our prayers have been answered. God has met us here in Ghana. The attendees of the conference have open hearts to hear the message of disciple making, as we continue to deploy the message of the Great Commission. There is much evidence from past conferences of the fruit.

The Lord protected us on our travels to Ghana and continues to provide for our needs spiritually and physically. Our host Pastor Benjamin has been a gracious host and continues to make sure we are well cared for. Please continue to pray for Pastor Benjamin and his disciples who are tending to us.

It is evident God is working in Accra, especially in the community of Taifa. It is amazing how you can truly feel the Holy Spirit’s presence. The teaching has been amazing; God has truly prepared each of us to be able to properly communicate the strategy and vision He left us; to the attendees of the conference. Please continue to pray for the participants of the conference to be good soil for receiving the lessons and spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Also pray for each of us as we continue to teach and pray for the participants.

Currently we have 15 participants in the conference with more being added hourly. Many of the participants are traveling 1-3 hours on way each day to attend the conference. Some have travelled from other countries around North Africa. One of the participants travelled over 12 hours on bus to get to the conference.  God is good and has protected these men in their travels and once again shows He is mighty. Our prayer is these men will leave and make disciples of all nations.

Our prayer needs continue to be for our families at home; specifically our wives to continue to have strength as we are way and for their protection. Also, that we may be an example to our children of how the church should be a going church as we are command in the Great Commission.

Madagascar Update

Hello again!  It's me Ryan Brazile form over in Toliara, Madagascar!  I have been here about three months now, and as the weather continues to get hotter, there continue to be more and more exciting opportunities.  I just got back from another conference for the youth here in Southern Madagascar.  This time, the conference was on the opposite coast in Ft. Dauphin.  We had about forty people come and it was a very exciting week.  There are some strong young leaders at the church in Ft. Dauphin.

Now I am back here in Toliara.  I have gotten teach a lot of English this last month, which I really enjoy, as it allows me to get to know many of the Malagasy.  I have also gotten to start discipling a couple people.  This is Johnson, a brilliant young guy from here who teaches the beginners English class here.  He is a very faithful and devoted follower of Christ, and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to disciple him.

This next week, I will be traveling to several small villages to help set up water collection tanks before the rainy season comes.  I am very excited about being able to go see the villages, as I hear the churches there, though small, are very zealous.

Sorry that I haven't updated the blog more recently.  I feel like I just tried to cram a lot of information into a tiny space.  Know that things are going well here.  You can pray for me, that I would continue to have joyful energy as it moves into the hot season here in Toliara.  It get REALLY hot here, and it can be a bit draining.  Pray that I would find joy in Christ, even when days are a bit hot and miserable.  We are doing the Lord's work, so really should have no reason to complain.  And finally pray that the church continues to grow with people who are passionate about making disciples.  There is a ton of work to be done here in Southern Madagascar, but that makes the harvest that much more exciting!

Ethiopia Day 7

Our prayer has been that our hearts would be changed. That we would not allow them to become calloused by what we are seeing and experiencing in Ethiopia (even for those of us who have been here before).  That we will allow our hearts to feel exactly how God wanted them to feel- just like His.

I would say it has been a success. God has been a success! AGAIN!

 Our hearts were changed this week. Our hearts were changed by the lentils and injera we shared around a large table in the middle of the drop-in center. Our hearts were changed with every handclap routine with a brown-eyed little girl so eager to share her favorite song. Our hearts were changed with every tough patient getting a tooth extracted in the crowded confines of a small, windowless room. Our hearts were changed by the mother of 4 small children infected with HIV. Our hearts were changed by the 862 Ethiopians who came through the clinic for medical treatment.  Our hearts were changed by the smiles of each child who was so content in where they were that it didn’t matter where they would find their next meal or their next place to sleep. Our hearts were changed by tear rolling down a 15 year old boy’s face as he described the hope he had found at Onesimus and in his personal relationship with our God.

This week, God has continued introducing us to a new normal. He has continued to show us life through His lens. He has given us grace in our darkest hours. He has given us dependence on Him because we could not endure this without Him. He has given us the opportunity to love His children they way he does- with no judgment. In short, He has changed our hearts. Amen.
